About Groupe Santé Entraide

A registered Quebec charity built by neighbours, for neighbours — grounded in mutual aid, prevention, and the belief that good health belongs to the whole community.

Our Story

Rooted in Saint-Joseph-de-Kamouraska

Groupe Santé Entraide de Saint-Joseph-de-Kamouraska grew out of a simple idea shared over kitchen tables in our parish: that no one facing illness, aging, or hardship should have to walk that road alone. What began as informal support among neighbours has grown, over decades, into a recognized non-profit health mutual-aid organization serving the entire municipality and its surrounding hamlets.

We are a small, entirely volunteer-led charity. Everything we do — from coordinating rides to medical appointments to hosting weekly wellness circles — is powered by the time, care, and knowledge our members freely give. Our official address at 141 Route de l'Église places us in the heart of village life, next to the church, the community hall, and the daily rhythms of our neighbours.

How We Work

Governance and Accountability

Groupe Santé Entraide is a Canadian registered charity (Business Number 120588629RR0001) governed by a volunteer board drawn from our own membership. We operate transparently, with annual assemblies open to all members and regular reporting in line with the requirements of the Canada Revenue Agency and Quebec's non-profit regulations.

Our small operating budget is carefully stewarded to keep programs running: light equipment for wellness activities, refreshments at gatherings, printing of health-information materials, and modest expenses for our volunteer coordinators. Because we are volunteer-led, the vast majority of our value comes from the human hours generously contributed by members of our community.

"The walking group gave me a reason to leave the house every week. My knees are better, my mood is better, and I have made real friends." — Long-time participant
